The Book About the Greatest Cat Golfer!
In 1998, Roscoe Watkins had reached the relatively advanced age of 12 and was already considered the greatest feline golfer of all time, having won multiple majors in each year he competed, including the unimaginable Grand Slam (all 4 majors in one year) in 1995. As Roscoe was contemplating retiring to a life of leisure, a trash-talking, media-loving 3 year old from Japan, Ichiro Nakamura, would not let Roscoe retire in peace. Proclaiming himself the world's greatest golfer in nightly television interviews, Nakamura announced his intention to take all the majors and advised Roscoe to retire and take naps.
Provoked by this obnoxious challenger, Roscoe announced that he would not retire, but would compete only in the 4 major championships on the regular FGA (Feline Golf Association) Tour, as well as the 4 major championships on the wildly popular Senior Tour (open to competitors age 10 and up). Roscoe's undertaking was quickly dubbed by the press as the Quest for the Double Slam.
In order to accomplish the Quest, Roscoe, accompanied by his faithful and feisty sister and caddy Maggie, would not only have to take on Nakamura, but would also have to beat other great champions, includng Mioshi Murata from Japan (Roscoe's best friend on tour and author of the Forward to the Book), Sandy McTabby from Scotland, Bruno Mauser from Germany, Cyril "Lord Sandtrap" Bunker from England, Crocodile Mahoney from Australia, Laddie Campbell from New Zealand, Murph McFurrson from the States, and Senior Tour Legends Buster "Scratch" McNabb and Old Tom Norris.
